YOU WILL ALSO NEED:
Large square pegboard
Iron and ironing paper
Tweezers
2-1/4" circle punch
White cardstock
Velcro
Quick-drying adhesive
Ribbon/yarn/fabric strips
See the Supply List for beads and tools you can purchase.
Step 2
CREATING THE DESIGN:
Download the PDF for the Pennant Banner Project Pattern. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads as shown.
NOTE: We used the alphabet on the Making Letters project on Perler.com. Make the letters you need in coordinating or contrasting colors.
Step 3
FUSING THE DESIGN: An adult should do this step.
Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. NOTE: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly, it is possible some colors may need a little more time. Let the design cool.
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. When the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
Step 4
ASSEMBLY:
Use the circle punch to create a white cardstock circle for each letter. Glue the letter to the paper circle.
If you want to be able to reuse your banner for other messages, attach one side of velcro to the back of each circle and the other side to the pennant.
Tie the sections together with colorful ribbon, yarn, or fabric strips.
