Contemporary Tree Ornaments

Add a bit of modern flair to your holiday décor with these unique fuse bead tree ornaments

Instructions

Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project patterns. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size patterns underneath it. Place your beads, following the patterns.

Step 2
You will also need:
Metallic craft cord, 24" length
Craft glue

Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.

Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 5
Cut the metallic cord in half and tie a knot in the end of one of the pieces.

Step 6
Starting on the back of the tree base, follow the diagram on the pattern sheet to lace the cord up and down through the bead holes to connect the tree segments. Leave a small gap between each segment. Use a dab of craft glue on the back of the segments to secure the cord and hold the segments in place.

Step 7
Make a loop with the excess cord at the top and tie a knot. Trim any excess. Repeat to assemble the other tree ornament.
