Instructions
Step 1
Note: You will need three (3) bags of midnight to make this project. Download/print the PDF for the project pattern. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads, following the pattern.
Step 2
You will also need:
White translucent vellum, enough to cut 4 pieces sized at 2.5" x 4.25"
Craft glue
Battery-operated tealight or string of miniature lights
Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your design. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.
Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable. Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.
Step 5
Glue a piece of vellum to the back of each side panel.
Step 6
Follow the diagrams on the pattern sheet to assemble the lantern.
Step 7
Place lantern over top of a tealight or insert miniature lights inside the lantern to create a spooky glow!
