Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras

"Laissez les bons temps rouler!" Let the good times roll with these colorful Mardi Gras masks made from fuse beads.

Instructions

Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project patterns. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size patterns underneath it. Place your beads, following the patterns.

Step 2
You will also need:
Wood dowels, 1/8" thick, 7" long, qty - 1 for each mask (can also use straws or craft sticks)
Assorted colors of ribbons, 24" lengths, qty Đ 3 for each mask
Hot glue gun/glue sticks

Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your design. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool. Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable. Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 5
Use hot glue to attach a dowel to the back of each mask.

Step 6
Gather three ribbon lengths, fold them in half, and tie a knot in the middle. Glue the knot to the dowel just below the mask.
