Pastel Gnome Ornament

Pastel Gnome Ornament

Gnomes are usually found in the garden, but this cute fuse bead gnome will be a great addition to your holiday decorating. The colors used on this project also make it suitable for year-round display.

Instructions

Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project patterns. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads, following the patterns.

Step 2
You will also need:
Lightweight white yarn, 72", cut into 9 equal lengths
Tapestry needle, small enough to pass through holes in beads such as an 18T
Pompom, pink, _"
BakerŐs twine or string, coordinating color, 8" length
Craft glue
Scissors

Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.

Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 5
Use the needle to lace the yarn pieces through the holes in the main body as shown on the pattern sheet.

Step 6
Assemble the pieces, using the connectors to secure the hat to the main body.

Step 7
Use the needle to separate the yarn strands, then trim the yarn to the desired length to shape into a beard.

Step 8
Glue the pompom to the lower edge of the hat.

Step 9
Add desired length of twine or string to top of hat to display your finished gnome.
