Needle and thread

Step 2
Download the PDF for the Santa's Elf Door Decoration Project Pattern. You will use the super-size pegboard to create your project. Place the beads following the pattern.

Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting.

Step 4
TIP: The secret to ironing an extra large project like this and to avoid the beads creeping and knocking over their neighbors is to iron sections at a time as follows. Lay a large piece of cardboard over most of the design except for the area you will be ironing first. Place ironing paper over the exposed beads. As you begin to iron in a circular motion, use your other hand to press down on the cardboard nearest where you are ironing to keep those beads in place. Now shift the cardboard and ironing paper and iron the next section, repeating until the entire design is fused. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Weight the design with heavy books while it cools to help it stay flat.

Step 5
Once cool, remove the weights and check for any loose beads, re-ironing as needed. Cover the design with the cardboard once more, and flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat step 3. Let cool completely. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.

Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 6
ASSEMBLY: The small pieces on the right are to be glued over the main image to add dimension. Add the larger nose piece, then the smaller, aligning both with the bottom two beads of the nose on the main piece. Add the buckles over the belt and shoe buckles on the main piece.

Step 7
Sew a small jingle bell to each of the elf's slippers, and one medium jingle bell to the end of his hat.
