Instructions
Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project patterns. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads, following the patterns.
Step 2
You will also need:
Embroidery thread, coordinating color
Clear filament
Craft glue or electric hot glue gun
Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.
Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.
Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.
Step 5
Stack the circular designs and glue them together to make the header for the mobile.
Step 6
Cut three 18" lengths of the embroidery thread. Working on the outer ring of the header, slide one piece of thread down through one bead (on both layers) and back up through an adjacent bead. Tie a double knot to form a loop and trim ends close to the knot. Repeat two more times at equal intervals around the header.
Step 7
Gather the three thread loops and tie them together about 1" from the top to make a hanging loop.
Step 8
Assemble the stars as shown on the pattern sheet.
Step 9
Cut nine lengths of clear filament, varying the lengths. Attach a piece of filament to each star as shown on the pattern sheet.
Step 10
Randomly attach the stars to the header as explained on the pattern sheet.
