Instructions
Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project pattern. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place your beads, following the pattern.
Step 2
You will also need:
Styrofoam craft cone (12-inch-high cone used for our tree)
Small ribbon flowers, white
Craft glue
Note: Number of bead bags required for this project may vary depending on tree size and number of treats used to cover it.
Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.
Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.
Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.
Step 5
Beginning at the bottom edge of the cone, use craft glue to attach the treats around the cone base. Continue working your way up the cone, adding treats in a random pattern.
Note: It is best to attach larger treats first and then add smaller treats to cover any open areas.
Step 6
Add small ribbon flowers to fill in any small gaps on the tree.
Step 7
It will take approximately 80 treats for a 12-inch tree as shown.
Step 8
To make the tree topper, glue 2 of the small round candies together.
