Tropical Fish Wall Hanging

Tropical Fish Wall Hanging

Venture into the depths of the sea to find this cute no-iron design! Perler beads can be used in lots of creative ways besides fusing with an iron and this tropical fish is just one example of those ways.

Instructions

Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project pattern.

Step 2
You will also need:
Wooden dowel Đ 1/8" diameter, 12" long
Dark aqua 6-strand embroidery thread - 4 yards
Aqua 6-strand embroidery thread - 9 yards
Coordinating glass or plastic beads- 6mm outer diameter, approx. 2mm hole - 17
Craft glue

Step 3
Trim the wooden dowel to measure 4-1/2" long.

Step 4
Glue one end of the dark aqua thread to the end of the dowel. Wrap the thread around the dowel until it is completely covered. Glue the thread in place at the end and trim any excess.

Step 5
Use the remaining dark aqua thread to create a hanger. You can make a piece of monkŐs cording as we did on our project or use the thread as is. Find the center of the wooden dowel and the center of the thread. Glue the center of the thread to the center point of the dowel. Glue the thread to the ends of the dowel as shown. Tie the loose ends together above the dowel to complete the hanger, making it the desired length.

Step 6
Cut 17 - 18" lengths of the aqua thread.

Step 7
Loop the first piece of thread over the dowel. Beginning on the left side, follow the pattern to slide the Perler beads onto the doubled-over length of thread, working from top to bottom.

Step 8
Add one glass/plastic bead. Tie a knot in the thread just below that bead to end off the column. If desired, add a small dab of qlue to further secure the knot.

Step 9
Repeat steps 7 and 8 for the remaining 16 columns.

Step 10
Trim thread ends to desired length.
