Whimsical Moon and Star Wall Hanging

Whimsical Moon and Star Wall Hanging

Add this whimsical wall hanging to a child's room for a fresh pop of color. It's easy to connect the fuse bead components using embroidery thread.

Instructions

Step 1
Download/print the PDF for the project patterns. If you are using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size patterns underneath it. Place your beads, following the patterns. For the watering can, you will need to connect the four pegboards together to form a large square.

Step 2
You will also need:
Craft glue
Coordinating embroidery thread, 44" length

Step 3
Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard and bead design. In a circular motion, begin to iron the design. When ironed properly, the beads will still have open centers. Let the design cool.

Step 4
Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat the fusing. Let cool completely. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Lift the paper occasionally to see how the beads are fusing. Additional heating time may be required.

Step 5
Cut two 18" lengths of the embroidery thread. Lace each piece through a pastel lavender bead as indicated by an x on the moon pattern, leaving a 1" tail on the back. Secure the tails to the back of the moon with craft glue.

Step 6
Starting on the front of the first star, take the thread down through the top hole and up through the bottom hole. Repeat for the next star. For the third star, go down through the top hole only. DonŐt trim the thread yet. String the second set of stars in the same way.

Step 7
Adjust the stars along the pieces of thread as desired. When you are satisfied with their position, secure the thread to the back of each star with a small amount of craft glue and trim any excess thread.

Step 8
Use the remaining thread to create a hanger. Lace the thread through the toothpaste bead as indicated by an x on the moon pattern. Knot the ends together, creating a loop of the desired size. Slide the loop so the knot is hidden on the back and secure the knot to the back with a dab of craft glue.
