The beads were not separated by color so me and my family had to sit down for at least 3 hours to separate the colors. The patterns were easy to make, however the beads spread out to much when ironed together making it impossible for the larger pieces of the houses to be put together.
Super excited to add this town to my other log cabin houses. I now have a whole winter wonderland scene. Super cute
I love Perler kits and have never had the problems I have had with this one. First, there is a "scale" problem between the instructions and the included pegboards. The clear pegboards are designed to lay directly on top of the design, but the scale is ever-so-slightly off so that they don't quite match. It's very confusing and you have to keep shifting the pegboard around. Second, the beads themselves are not a uniform size, and some of them are taller than others. This makes for very difficult/bumpy ironing, and the taller beads often catch on the iron, sending the other beads scattering before they can be fused. Next, in a few cases some of the beads "bleed" onto the beads next to them; I think these are the taller ones that spread on top of the nearby beads, which creates a weird color-bleed appearance. Finally, the completed pieces are EXTREMELY difficult to put together. I think this is because the bead colors seem to melt unevenly, with some melting quickly and others taking a longer time. This results in some beads being over-melted and some aren't melted enough. I've never had such a frustrating time trying to assemble the 3-D designs. The pieces WILL NOT click into place; I've had to use pliers and my fingers are aching. All in all, a real quality-control miss from Perler.
As always the grands loved the Perler project. I so prefer it to their being glued to a screen. Good for their eye-hand coordination and following diagrams.
